As one of the USA's leading importers of South America's most coveted wines and specialty beer, we bring a number of the finest boutique, and often family-owned brands to wholesalers throughout the United States. By cultivating relationships with the highest quality artisan producers, and encouraging collaborative efforts among the brands in our portfolio, we provide our clients with an opportunity for financial success and notoriety in the fiercely competitive North American market.
The innovation and collaboration that distinguish Southern Wine Group began with founder and President Kirk Ermisch. Kirk first came to Argentina in 1998 with Kendall Jackson, where he headed a team that constructed and established the Tapiz Winery in Mendoza. This was the first U.S. winery ever built in Argentina.
During his experience in Argentina and his frequent trips to Chile, Kirk became friends with a number of winemakers and winemaking families. In 2000 he founded Southern Wine Group to bring his selections to North America. From those humble beginnings the portfolio has grown considerably, and SWG now represents eighteen producers from Argentina, Chile, and Mexico, three of which are company owned. Kirk currently resides part of the year in Mendoza at the Elvira Calle Winery, where his immersion in the South American wine industry allows him to maintain SWG's first mover status on developing projects.
